Hi Everyone,

We had a great time at the Greenbelt Greenman Festival and the weather was really nice (no rain!!) I will do a proper post with pictures later (the camera is in the van and Johnnie took it to work. But I thought I would release to you the new paintings I debuted at the show.

Peacock Fantasy --digital from scratch in Photoshop

Cloud Dance-- Digital from scratch in Photoshop

I will be adding these prints to the website some time today. I am working on some one of a kind sculptures this week. I think they will be pretty neat as I am all out of sculptures! Fairy Fest crowds will get first crack at them and then of course I will put them on ETSY.

Spring Dragon

  • Mar. 1st, 2009 at 9:09 PM

Hey all,

I managed to finish this guy this morning when I got up.

No video blog today but I will do one next sunday. I am just way too tired today. I was up late, got up early and worked all day finishing this piece and doing some running around. I will be adding this to the site tomorrow for purchase as well as prints which I am running off now. Tomorrow I will also be working on the design for the summer dragon as well as starting to paint it. I need to fiddle with my printer a bit as well because I can't get the velvet paper option for it on there yet. So I haven't been able to start running off those prints. I need to order ink and about a billion other things too.

My husband is downstairs killing zombies on the Wii and my dog looks like he wants to go make some yellow snow. We are expected to get 8 inches tonight. Fun, we haven't had a good snow this year yet.

Midwinters Frost

  • Feb. 28th, 2009 at 2:46 PM

Well it is complete, my first in a series of 4 dragons for my 4 seasons dragons paintings. It is a mixed media on watercolor paper titled Midwinters Frost. Prints and the original will be available later on today.

I am almost finished with the spring one and I am printing prints for Imagicon of it now. I have all prints bagged and ready to go so far which is awesome. All I have to do now is our Fine Velvet art prints to mat and mount and any new pieces I do from now until we leave at the end of march. We will be set then print wise, I still have so much to do including sculpt some pieces for my workshop.

Johnnie has decided to open up my cafe press shop again. This is totally his pet project and he is doing all the work for it. There are a few things up that he added yesterday: http://www.cafepress.com/ashevans

We are getting a new sofa today! YAY! and I am going out with my friend James this evening and Johnnie is having a boys night in consisting of Kahlua (our cat) beer and zombies.

I am hoping to have the spring dragon all ready for you tomorrow so stay tuned. Hopefully I can get to shooting a video blog as well.

Hi Everyone,

I have had a pretty productive few days so I have things to share with you!

Firstly I am happy to say I have finished Artemis, my OOAK unicorn sculpture. I wanted her to have black hair but they where all out! I didn’t find out until my order got here :( Oh well I like her with white hair too.

This is a large sculpture that is 7 in high at the tip of her horn. It was hand sculpted, hand painted and hand embellished with hair (its synthetic)

THIS IS NOT A TOY, and is a display piece ONLY. Keep out of reach of children and animals. She would be happiest guarding a shelf in your home.

She is 75.00 plus 10.00 shipping and handling.

I also have some Mini prints up on ETSY. I only have one of each sort, we are testing out Mini prints to see if they are popular. They are 4x6 on fine luster paper. They come in a protective bag with backing board for safe shipping. They are 4.00 and you can get them at my ETSY store here:
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5199323

My studio is 1/3 of the way clean. I kept having things interfere with my cleaning like my unicorn hair arriving, an interview request and figurine inspection. Over the next few days I will be adding more things to the site and working on my project. I haven’t even finished one drawing for any of them yet. Too much going on!

Tomorrow I am being interviewed for a podcast which is neat. I added the four seasons unicorn prints to the site also. More to come!!

Have a great day everyone.

New Year, New art!

  • Jan. 1st, 2009 at 3:11 PM

Hi Everyone,

I am happy to say I put the last touches on my last painting of the year yesterday afternoon so today I can show them all to you. I have been working on some mixed media four seasons unicorns!! They are all draft horses because that is what I love the most. I will be posting them up for sale on the site in a few, I just wanted to share them with you now.

Winter Winds: Watercolor, ink and colored pencil on watercolor paper.

Spring Awakening: Watercolor, ink and colored pencil on watercolor paper

Summer Breeze: Watercolor, ink and colored pencil on watercolor paper

Autumn Splendor: Watercolor, ink and colored pencil on watercolor paper

Heaven and earth designs has already charted 3 of these: http://www.heavenandearthdesigns.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=175_271_273

The fourth one is coming.

I will be selling individual prints as well as a 4 piece print pack of these guys. I have a LOT of plans this year. I am going to be a guest at a show and I have an interview coming up. All kinds of good stuff. Today though, I am going to take it a little easy, we had SUCH fun at the party last night. I will post pics later.

Enchanted Moon

  • Nov. 29th, 2008 at 3:09 PM

Here is my newest painting. It is titled Enchanted Moon. I have had her around for aged and I finally got around to finishing her up and getting it photographed. It is an acrylic on oval canvas.

The original and prints will be available on the site shortly. I am also adding things to my zazzle store now.

http://www.zazzle.com/phoenixxfire24

Also I have my 2009 figurine preview!!! These are some of the new statuary pieces that will be available for sale some time next year.

We are really pleased with how they turned out. We have a lot more items coming out in the new year. I am also working on a new project now. I have decided I am going to hang onto it for a while once it is done. Maybe show it in the new year. I am not sure.

Anyway I better get back to work.

Hi Everyone,

I am sorry I didn't do a video blog last night. I got in from Harvest Fest after a long day and simply didn't have the energy for it. Harvest Fest went very well and we came home with a lot less stuff in the van so that is always nice. Don't worry we still have plenty for Faerie Con though!

I did manage to finish Witching Hour Saturday night!! I got to take it to harvest festival and of course prints are coming with me to Faerie Con as well!!

Witching Hour was done in Photoshop from scratch on my Cintiq. Prints are available at www.ashevans.com

Also goodies are up for grabs on Zazzle.com as well, I will have other merchandise soon but I just finished it and things are so busy for the con right now.

http://www.zazzle.com/phoenixxfire24

Also speaking of Faeriecon I will be at booth 1816

Striped Socks is complete

  • Oct. 2nd, 2008 at 3:09 PM

Yay!! I am happy with the final outcome of this piece. I could have worked on it forever and ever but it got to a place where I liked it so I said cool it is done. This piece was done in Photoshop from scratch with my Cintiq. I draw directly on my tablet because I think tons of sketching wastes paper. What is the point I am just going to have to scan it in anyway? I paint in Photoshop with no fancy filters or mystical lighting tricks with the basic brushes. I do have Mystical lighting which is awesome, I did add the little twinkles to Sea Spray with it but I am not sure how heavy I will ever get into it.

Prints are printed, Striped Socks is posted on Zazzle and up for sale. I will be adding it to the website shortly. I have been pretty productive today. I have laundry going and Cezar just got a bath, he is lounging in his bathrobe now. Yeah he has one, my aunt bought it for him. Its pink and he actually really likes it.

6 new pieces for Faeriecon, I am pretty OK with that. If I do more great, if I don't that is good too.

Have a great day everyone.

Weekend and new art

  • Sep. 21st, 2008 at 10:32 PM

Hi Everyone,

I had a really busy weekend so I didn't get as much painting as I would have liked to done but I did finish my one painting for the week so I am on track still for Faeriecon!

Sea Spray

Another digital painting done from scratch in Photoshop. Prints and merchandise are available on the website.

I really like how she turned out. I think I am getting the hang of this digital painting thing. Now if only Painter X was this easy for me!! I have some finishing things to do on Enchanted Moon so I may have two paintings for you next week. I have some personal stuff to do so I am not sure how that is going to go.

Anyway I DID manage to have a little bit of fun this weekend as well. Johnnie and I took my grandfather to the MD Renn Faire this weekend. His relatives owned the farm land it is on once upon a time and he hasn't been there in 70 years! It was just a bunch of chicken coops when he saw it last and he was surprised by how different it was. He also got to meet some distant relatives which was nice. He really had a great time and we took him around and showed him the faire and watched a joust. Here are a few snaps from the event:
Me and my Pop at the Faire

Us at the Boar's Head sampling some of their beer.

One of the two elephants, I actually just took this for Steven.

We watched one of the jousts,I got some amazing reference photos from it!! I heart hossies!!

A good time was had by all! Pop is already taking about going back.He didn't get to see everything all in one visit. There is a lot to see and do there.

I am doing a LATE video blog this evening so I can stay on track with that as well. I will be posting it soon. New art coming soon, now if only the digital painting would let me get some traditional medium stuff going.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Like Clockwork is DONE!!!

  • Sep. 1st, 2008 at 7:48 PM

He happened upon her by chance. He guessed it was the explosion and then the swearing that drew him in. Piles of parts where strewn about the place and his foot became acquainted with a very heavy motor on the floor. "What on earth are you up to?" he asked, barely suppressing his contempt for the rusty motor. She looked up from grimy goggles, smiled and exclaimed "Unicorns" But unicorns aren't real he retorted . "Ah but my good fellow in this day in age if you can dream it you can BUILD it.I am in the business of building dreams. Behold Gearshift my horse, he always wanted to be special.""Are the brass boots to help with landing?"" Oh no those where his idea. He thought they would look cool."

For Brigid, the steampunkiest person I know :) This started out as a joke but I got talked into making it a reality.

Prints and goodies available tomorrow!!!

Phoenix Moon

I have loads more work to do!

Ness

  • Aug. 4th, 2008 at 8:29 PM

Hi Everyone,

I did manage to get another digital painting done. I really like doing digital paintings and I am hoping to improve in the near future. This is my latest piece titled Ness, it was inspired by The Water Horse. I was always wondering why there would be a Lock Ness Monster, The idea of this came to me in a dream.

I was watching The Water Horse and got to wondering where there would be a creature in the Loch at all? The answer came to me in a dream which I got up in the middle of the night to scribble down: Long ago there was a girl who fell in love with a man while traveling with her family in Scotland. She was promised to someone else and her family refused to let her break the engagement. Heartbroken, she vowed to never give her heart to anyone else. She asked the Gods to remove it and leave it in the Loch where they first met. Her plea was granted and they placed a monster in the lake to guard it, where it still resides to this day.

Prints are available on the site and more stuff coming soon.

I hope you like her!
